MIGH – Moving Forward with Technology

The following testimonials are from students who have been given new opportunities for education and employment as a result of the U.S. Government economic stimulus program (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009) and the Mexican Institute of Greater Houston’s (MIGH) participation and support received from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce’s NTIA’S Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).

Los siguientes videos son testimonios por parte de estudiantes del Instituto Mexicano de Houston quienes han tenido la oportunidad de avanzar en su educación y trabajo debido a los fondos federales recibidos del gobierno de los Estados Unidos, parte del paquete de estimulo económico (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009). Este es proveído a través de la Administración de Telecomunicación e Información y el programa BTOP (Broadband Technology Opportunities Program) los cuales pertenecen al Departamento de Comercio de los EE.UU.

Mendenhall Student Video 1: Mr. Rolando Zúniga

Determined student, Mr. Rolando Zúniga, born in El Salvador, applies his talents to acquire new skills at MIGH under the BTOP program.  He shares the desires of his classmates to become a more marketable employee and possible entrepreneur. Due to his appreciation for the opportunity he has been given to grow in his education through the Mexican Institute of Greater Houston and BTOP, he gives a thankful video testimony for his computer course.

Un estudiante decidido a triunfar, el Señor Rolando Zúniga, nacido en El Salvador, usa sus talentos para adquirir nuevas capacidades en el Instituto Mexicano. El, como otros estudiantes, desea prosperar como persona, empleado, y empresario. En agradecimiento por la oportunidad que ha tenido para mejorar su educación por medio del Instituto Mexicano de Houston y el programa BTOP, da un testimonio sobre su experiencia con el curso de computación.

Mendenhall Student Video 2: Mrs. Ricarda Peralta

About 80 percent of students who take educational courses through MIGH are Hispanic females. Ricarda Peralta, a Mexican native, is a proud learner who looks forward to the opportunities these computer classes will present for her to become established as a better employee, parent, and member of her community. During her video testimony she expresses her appreciation to MIGH and BTOP for the increased potential she is able to gain through education.

Casi el 80 porciento de estudiantes que toman los cursos del Instituto Mexicano son mujeres hispanas. Ricarda Peralta, originaria de México, es una alumna orgullosa que está entusiasmada por las oportunidades que estas clases de computación le darán para establecerse como mejor empleada, madre de familia, y miembro de su comunidad. En su testimonio expresa su agradecimiento con el Instituto Mexicano y BTOP por el potencial adicional de avanzar en la vida que va a conquistar mediante la educación.
