Francisco Jimenez’s “Team Big Impact Bear” wins 2011 Microsoft Imagine Cup
April 13, 2011-- At the Mexican Institute of Greater Houston we are extremely proud to announce that Francisco Jiménez and his Team Big Impact Bear, from the University of Houston, won 1st place in the 2011 USA Imagine Cup by Microsoft, the world’s premier student technology competition. Among top teams that tackled real-world issues, Team Big Impact Bear “created Forest Gun, a mobile game that takes a proactive approach to ending deforestation, aiming to prevent clear-cutting and reverse its effects. (In doing so, they) took gaming to a whole new level… gaming for the greater good", according to yesterday’s Microsoft Blog that named U.S. Imagine Cup Winners.
His team development involves mobile computing which is a clear testimony of the group’s forward looking mentality and their creative use of leading edge technology. Francisco is a member of our team through the University of Houston’s Texas Learning & Computation Center (TLC2) and we congratulate him immensely. He has and continues to be deeply involved in the development of the BTOP funded project for the Mexican Institute’s Educational Platform. Therefore we recognize his dedication, inclination to seek perfection, and desire to help other human beings and our planet in any way possible. We congratulate him and his team for their significant achievement in the 2011 Microsoft Imagine Cup.
