MIGH 2011 Día de la Familia
The MIGH had its Día de la Familia, also known as Family Day, at the George R. Brown Convention Center on Sunday, June 26th, 2011. This event included a graduation ceremony for approximately 600 students who successfully completed the Basic Computer Technology and Application Course or HTML Course offered by the Mexican Institute of Greater Houston in partnership with the Tecnológico de Monterrey of Mexico, and the (UH) University of Houston's Texas Learning and Computation Center (TLC²). A number of our graduates were able to benefit from these courses thanks to funds provided by the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).
We were honored to have among our guests Dr. Rafael Rangel Sostmann, President of the Tecnológico de Monterrey System, in Mexico.
Other special guests included Dr. Luis Malpica y de LaMadrid, Honorable General Consul of Mexico in Houston; Dr. Laura Ruiz Pérez, Director of Social Programs at the Universidad Virtual del Sistema Tecnológico de Monterrey; Mr. Luis Carranza Alvarez, International Business Consultant/ Advisor; Mrs. Magdalena V. Strickland, Director of HISD's Lantrip Elementary School; Mrs. Lupina McMains, member of the Executive Committee - MIGH Board of Directors; and Mr. Guillermo Hernández, Architect, member of the Executive Committee - MIGH Board of Directors.
